HO Diorama Workshop
with Ted Rafuse
January 2, 9, 16, 23, 2010
10:00 am to 1 pm
We are very pleased to welcome back instructor Ted Rafuse for the second edition of his very popular HO Diorama series of workshops. This workshop includes 12 hours of instruction on 4 consecutive Saturdays in January, 2010 from a very talented modeler.
In this workshop students will create a two square foot model railway diorama in HO scale and they will be encouraged to use their creativity and imaginations to personalize their work. Specifically, instruction will be given in areas of laying track with focus on roadbed, ballasting and track installation while laying both flexible track and a switch. Students will also construct a plastic rolling stock kit and be given ideas, tricks and tips to paint, decal & weather their car. A plastic DPM structure kit will also be constructed with attention to basic construction techniques, finish, detail and weathering. Wooden trackside detail kits by Osborne Model Products will also be utilized for increased realism added to the layout scenery by Woodland Scenics products.
Each of the four sessions will include 3 hours of instructor led, practical hands-on experience on specific tasks, after which students will have work to complete at home before the next session. Ted has chosen not to create a prototype of the diorama this time as each participant is strongly encouraged to use their creativity to personalize their work to their own liking. This workshop is a great opportunity to learn lots of skills, secrets and tips from a very skilled modeler with many years of experience. Materials included are the base, tracks, roadbed, rolling stock and structure kits along with trackside detail kits and scenery products.
The cost is $135 (taxes included) and we are limited to only six seats on a first come, first served basis. This could be a great Christmas gift idea for that hard to buy for model train enthusiast on your list as it will provide lots of useful ideas and instruction to anybody from a newby to seasoned modeler.
